The Association of Comic Artists (Singapore) (ACAS), has made a significant impact on the art of visual storytelling in Singapore. ACAS president, Mr Jerry Hinds, and patron founder, Ms Lim Li Kok, also played a pivotal role in the creation of Singapore's first-ever superhero all-color US style comic, Get Carter! The Last Dragon Scout. This groundbreaking comicbook paved the way for numerous future publications, showcasing local talent in both illustration and writing. In collaboration with the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), ACAS initiated the First Time Writers & Illustrators Publishing Initiative. This initiative resulted in the creation of two anthologies, Arena Sci-fi and Arena Fantasy, providing a platform for aspiring young writers and illustrators to showcase their work. Through this initiative, ACAS has given emerging talents the opportunity to have their stories and artwork published, further establishing their presence in the industry. Through their website, ACAS aims to reach a wider audience and promote their achievements. They offer membership for comic and manga enthusiasts, providing them with a community of like-minded individuals and access to resources and support. ACAS also offers registration for classes and courses on drawing and writing comics and manga, allowing aspiring artists to develop their skills and learn from experienced professionals. Additionally, ACAS promotes events and products related to visual storytelling, creating opportunities for artists to showcase their work and connect with potential collaborators and fans. ACAS's impact on the comic and manga industry in Singapore is undeniable.
