The Association of Comic Artists (Singapore) (ACAS) is proud to have played a key role in the launch of many groundbreaking publications, and we're excited to share the journey with you. The process of bringing any title to life begins with the initial concept and character design. The ACAS team helps and supports creators with producing stories that will resonate with readers. They may have characters who not only possess extraordinary powers but also have a relatable backstory and compelling personality. Once a concept is finalized, the team moves onto the collaboration between writers and illustrators, or just working with the artist if he or she are also the writer. This stage is crucial in shaping the narrative and visual elements of the comic. Under the guidance of the ACAS editor-in-chief, Jerry Hinds, writers work closely with illustrators to ensure that the stories flow seamlessly and that the artwork captures the essence of the characters and their world. Creating a comic or manga isn't an easy task - a team faces several challenges along the way. One of the main hurdles is finding the right balance between action-packed scenes and character development. ACAS aids in achieving the creation of stories that will captivate readers in any desired way - from captivating action, to wild fun and deep drama. Another challenge was maintaining consistency in the artwork throughout the comic. The illustrators had to ensure that the characters' appearances remained consistent from panel to panel, while also conveying their emotions and expressions effectively. Add to these baseline essentials, the crafts of inking, colouring, toning, lettering graphic design. The partnership between ACAS and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) was instrumental in bringing the Arena titles to fruition. This collaboration allowed the books to reach a wider audience and gain recognition as a significant milestone in Singapore's comic industry.
